Rejected – such harsh words. While waiting on the HiLO Lens pre-production samples we’ve been working on a few apps.

The first of these is OlloCorrect which corrects for distortion in the add on lens Olloclip(TM). people who own an Olloclip(TM) will hopefully appreciate this app (it will be free when it launches). These same people may be interested in HiLO Lens so it’s a win-win.

This is also a great practice run for better understanding the App Store and app development. The OlloCorrect app was rejected because the Apple guidelines state:

2.10 iPhone apps must also run on iPad without modification, at iPhone resolution, and at 2X iPhone 3GS resolution
Now I had read that but it just didn’t register with me. The Apple software for building apps allows us to target iPhone, iPad or Universal. It took about 12 days for Apple to get back with that answer, it is a slow process but the rejection is my own fault.
So to be clear ALL apps must run on iPad. Even if the app is designed to work with accessories that are only available on the iPhone.
Unfortunately there are some differences in how the iPad and iPhone work with apps which will require modifying the app to behave in different ways depending if the device is an iPhone or iPad.  The main problem is the photo picker which needs to be presented in a popup on the iPad but it fullscreen on the iPhone. So we’ll get that sorted and go in for another round…
