Naming a project is fun and a real challenge. Finding a name with the .com domain available, is nearly mission impossible.

This project is on its second name and 3rd color scheme !

To begin with I chose a name that was more technical “iCornerCam”. I couldn’t resist trying to find a name that had a .com domain available. A contradiction because I also strongly believed the name would change.

The extreme optimist in me must have thought the name change was not 100% certain. Because I am now the, not so proud, owner of Yet Another Domain.

Fortunately I know a very good designer, who offered to do a quick logo design. The logo incorporates an icon and this was useful for the App prototype. The icon can also be stamped on the accessory, so it works without color and embossed.

After playing with the first prototype a number of new uses cropped up. The project started to feel more mature, the team had expanded and we worked on a brand identity. We decided the focus should be fun and simplicity. The name would have to change.

Brainstorming led to a couple of options. iKapt and iCatchYa being two of the preferred ones. iCatchYa seemed to stand out to most people as the better choice. Proving to be an an eternal optimist, I own Yet More Domains.

Consulting some of the websites about color combinations indicated that red and orange would reflect the fun aspect.

I thought this was not too bad. But my designer friend suggested another color combination. After a restless night, his choice did seem better in the morning. So we have the current logo :

iCatchYa is close to “I catch you” which ties in nicely to photography. The infamous “i” is now synonymous with Apple, our product is for the iPhone so we’ve spelt that out. The icon might look a bit like an eye and it has a twist. The product is all about getting a fresh perspective in shots taken with your iPhone’s camera.
