After lengthy discussions we have agreed on the production of 10 optical modules to the specifications of HiLO Lens. These will be our final(hopefully!) prototypes.
The discussions were somewhat complicated reaching agreement on the acceptance criteria for optical quality. We agreed on a Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), which will no doubt be the subject of a future blog post.
So we put our money on the table and hold our breath for 7-8 weeks while these are made.
In the mean time we can finalize the case design for housing the optics.
It was tempting to go to the crowd via Kickstarter, prior to completing these prototypes. But I don’t want to risk promising something we can’t deliver. Building the relationship with the manufacturer also means we will have accurate costs for the first production run.
